St. Xavier’s School Rajpur was started in response to a request from the local stakeholders. It is endowed with beautiful scenic environment and surrounded by many villages, forests and rivers. It is a junction from where the roads branch to three neighboring states i.e. Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttarpradesh.

Initially it was started as a vocational training centre by Fr. Amritlal Toppo, SJ, for the youth who were school dropouts. Rajpur being a junction was the most suitable place for further action. Fr. Amritlal Toppo and Sch. Emilius Ekka managed to acquire 4 acres of land in the town and registered in the name of Fr. Theodore Toppo SJ (A), Treasurer Xavier Institute Surguja in Korwa Basti (Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar Ward 06) just behind Rajpur Bus Stand in 2000. Construction work started in 2001 in the name of Xavier Seva Kendra (Community College).

In the mean time local people approached the Jesuits and requested for an English Medium School at Rajpur. It was the need of the time for local people. Nobody ever thought of rendering greater service to this place and to its people, who were in need of quality education for their children. Ambikapur being 40 kms away from Rajpur was the only place to send their children for higher and better education.

Xavier Seva Kendra began to function basically as a service center aiming to cater to different needs of the people. A small Community College initially started helping the dropout youth to have some skill development training through computer classes and tailoring. The centre conducted regularly some training programs and short courses on computer and tailoring during summer vacations. This was to help the youth to be self dependent economically and support their families. St. Xavier’s English Medium School was opened in 2002 to impart quality education to the tribal children who were not able to attend better schools due to poor economic condition of their parents.

Fr. Amrit Lal Toppo and Fr. Kuldeep Kujur landed in Rajpur on June 20, 2002. On June 22, 2002 the new building ground floor was blessed and officially inaugurated by the Provincial, Fr Theodore Toppo SJ (T). Thus English Medium School came into existence with a little more than 100 students in KGI and KG II. Fr. Kuldeep Kujur, SJ was appointed as the first Headmaster in June 2002. In 2003 another 2 acres of land was purchased and it made 6 acres of land in total.

The motto of the school “Ablaze With Wisdom” stands true to encourage excelling in contribution towards the building up of one country and one nation.

St. Ignatius, the founder of the Society of Jesus was born at Loyola in the Basque region of northern Spain in 1491. He was a noble man, a knight; in the service of the King of Spain .He received a severe leg injury in a battle against the French at Pamplona in 1521. This was how God entered his life. For many months he was bedridden till his leg was healed. He spent his time reading books of chivalry, and then, for want of other books, he read the lives of the saints and the life of Jesus. He felt great consolation and joy reading the latter and sadness and dryness whilst reading the former. He realized the emptiness of his life and resolved to follow Jesus in the most radical way. He set out on his pilgrimage in search of God. He spent one year at Manresa, where he performed frightening penances and experienced a deep religious conversion.He was a changed man. He offered himself totally to God and set out for Jerusalem. He wanted to remain in the holy land "to live as Jesus lived" but he was forbidden. He returned to Spain and started recruiting people to his way of life. Soon he realized the need for studies, he started learning Latin at the age of 33 and later went on to universities in Spain. Being harassed by the Inquisition, he went to Paris to complete his studies. He recruited six students and animated them with his vision and his burning love for God. Among them was Francis Xavier. This was the nucleus of future Society of Jesus.

Individually they took their vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, a famous Church in Paris and decided to go on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Because of the Turkish pirates, they were unable to fulfill their vows. They deliberated. They decided to constitute an Order, chose Ignatius as their general and offered themselves to the Pope. Their aim was “to be friends in Lord and to work for the salvation of souls.” Pope Paul III approved the new order in 1540.

The Pope sent the companions all over the world but Ignatius remained at Rome till death, writing the constitutions and directing and inspiring his fledgling Society. He grew steadily in union and familiarity with God, gifted with extraordinary mystical graces. He wrote a book, “Spiritual Exercises” which is highly mystical. “Finding God in all things,” was the fruit of his mystic experiences. Ad maiorem Dei gloriam or Ad majórem Dei glóriam, also rendered as the abbreviation AMDG, is the Latin motto of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), an order of the Catholic Church. It means "For the greater glory of God." Later ‘MAGIS’ became the charism and dynamics of the Society. Ignatius of Loyola died in Rome on July 31, 1556.

Francis Xavier (his full Spanish name was Francisco de Yasu Javier) was born in the family castle of Xavier in Navarre (Northern Spain) on 7 April 1506, the 5th child and 3rd son of Dr. Juan de Yasu and his wife Dona Maria. He was educated at home until at the age of 19. Later he went to Paris, ambitious to follow his father’s example and become a doctor in law (1525). He studied one year of Latin, and then three years Philosophy after which he obtained his Licentiate and shortly afterwards his Master’s degree in philosophy (1530). Master Francis then became a teacher of philosophy at one of the colleges of Paris University, and was well on the way of fulfilling his ambitions of acquiring a lucrative position and fame. But things turned out differently from what Francis hoped for. During his studies at the College of St. Barbe, Francis became a friend of his room companion, Peter Favre, a Savoyard of the same age as Francis and doing the same studies. But more significant was the arrival in 1529 of a new room-mate, Inigo de Loyola, a Spanish nobleman, 37 years old, who had come from Barcelona to complete his studies at Paris.

This Inigo was a very special kind of man, who, besides studying Latin and Philosophy, also gave “Spiritual Exercises” to fellow students and teachers, leading them to “Conversion”, i.e. a better Christian life, even to forsaking the world. Favre was won over to Inigo’s ideal without too much resistance; with Francis, however, it was otherwise. But as an old soldier, Inigo knew how to storm the fortress of the proud and ambitious Navarrese at its weakest point. With patience, charity and perseverance, he impressed upon his friend Francis: “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

For three years Francis Xavier resisted Inigo’s appeal, and refused to consider his idle dreams and decided to become a close follower of Christ. Favre and Xavier were the first to associate themselves with Inigo in the formation of a group of companions out of which would grow the Society of Jesus. Four others, Salmeron, Roadrigues, Laynes and Bobadilla, having joined them, the seven made their well-known vow at Montmartre (Paris), on 15 August 1534, binding themselves to the service of God.

The service of God led Francis Xavier to India. Ordained a priest with Inigo in June 1537, at Venice, the companions went to Rome where they put themselves at the disposal of the Pope, and prepared the foundation of the Society of Jesus. Before written approval of the Order was received from the Pope (September 1540), Xavier was appointed to substitute for the sick Bobadilla, who, at the request of King John III of Portugal, was to have gone to minister to the Christians of South-East India. Xavier left Rome for Lisbon where he remained nine months and occupied himself in giving catechism, hearing confessions and tending to the prisoners of the Inquisition before he could sail for India.

Appointed Apostolic Nuncio in the East, Xavier embarked for India on his 35th birthday, 7 April 1541. After an adventurous and dangerous journey, interrupted by winter spent in Mozambique, he landed at Goa 13 months later, on 6 May 1542. He immediately busied himself learning the language, preaching and ministering to the sick in the Goa hospital and composing a catechism. Success came quickly for he had a special way of dealing with people individually and in groups, a cheerful manner that was irresistible and he soon became known as “the holy priest”.

In September 1542 he set out for the Pearl Fishery Coast (Cape Comorin), where Christianity had been introduced a few years earlier but had almost disappeared owing to lack of priests. Xavier devoted 2 years to the work of preaching to the Paravas with notable success. Multitudes sflocked to hear him and his followers were counted in their thousands.

Francis’ zeal for establishing Christianity knew no bounds. He visited Malacca and other islands that he referred to as Moluccas (1545-1547). At Malacca in 1547 he met Japanese, called Anjiro, from whom he gathered information concerning Japan. Back in Goa (1548-49), he settled out-standing matters saw to the establishment of the Society of Jesus in India inspired and directed the works undertaken and then set out for Japan with two Jesuit companions and the Japanese Anjiro on 17 April 1549. After an apostolate of two years and three months in Japan the Christian community in that nation numbered some 2000 and later increased rapidly. Leaving Father de Torres in charge of the Mission, Xavier returned to Malacca where at the end of 1551, he was appointed Provincial of the newly erected Province of India and then continued his journey to Goa where he arrived at the end of February 1552.

After settling once again outstanding affairs and problems of the Province of India of the Society of Jesus, Xavier now turned his attention to China. He had heard much of that empire during his stay in Japan and he knew what an important influence its conversion would have upon the Japanese. He left his beloved India for Malacca and then for China where his ship reached the desolate island of Sancian (Shang-chwan) near the Chinese coast and not far from Canton at the end of August 1552. There, while trying to arrange means of gaining entry into China he was seized by fever on 21 November, 1552. He grew weaker and in the early morning of 3 December 1552 he died. He was buried the following day. After more than two months the grave and coffin were opened and his body was found to be incorrupt and fresh. It was taken first to Malacca and then to Goa where it is still enshrined in the Church of the God Jesus. Canonized in1622, St Francis Xavier is also honored as Patron of all Missions as well as of navigators.

The ambitious, proud, hard-working, dedicated and upright man saw his great desire of achieving fame and a lucrative and influential position and life, fulfilled - not for himself but for Christ. He underwent a complete conversion and his life-ambition turned into an ambition of total dedication to Christ and to bring Christ’s message to the world. Francis Xavier’s charity reflects the love of God for all men; his care for education was inspired by God’s desire to see men living a decent human life; the hardship and suffering he endured were cheerfully and courageously accepted as the price of inner freedom. His fiery and dynamic character, prayer and unstinted labour, were all put generously and fully in the service of others to bring glory to God and happiness to men.

St. Xavier’s School Rajpur, is named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit Saint of the 16th Century who travelled to India in 1541. It was founded in 2002 and is managed by the Fathers of Madhya Pradesh Province, Xavier Institute Surguja, a registered Society which also constitutes the Governing Body. The responsibility for the day to day running of the school is vested in the school administration. It is affiliated to the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education. The President of the Governing Body is Rev. Fr. Provincial of the Madhya Pradesh Jesuit Province. The School promotes co-education and it admits any child irrespective of cast, creed, social status or ethnic background.

The School was flagged off to a flying start by Fr. Amrit Lal Toppo, S.J. & Fr. Kuldeep Kujur, S.J. in 2002. At present Fr. Isaac Kujur, S.J., Manager, Fr. The first two letters are from Greek alphabet and the third from Latin. The little Cross and the three nails encircled in a radiance of light further enhances the Holy Name of Jesus.

Every parent want that their child reach to their destination safe and sound. Therefore, to ensure safety, the School provides conveyance for the students to reach school on time and to take them home safely.

1. Students are expected to arrive at the School before the assembly bell. Habitual late-corners will be sent home or detained after school.

2. A student, who is not habitually clean or properly dressed in the School uniform, will be sent home. Bush shirts are not to be worn.

3. No student up to Std. X is permitted to drive a motorized vehicle.

4. Students should not ride their cycles in the School campus. Cycles must he kept locked in the Cycle-shed.

5. Students must not scratch or spoil the desk, write in chalk or pencil on the wall or in any way damage School property. Damage done should be reported at once. Even if it is caused by accident, the damage has to be made good.

6. No "unauthorized" books, magazines, comics or papers may be brought to School without the permission of the Principal or the Vice-Principals.

7. The School is not responsible for loss of any goods belonging to the students. They are, therefore, advised not to bring large sums of money or expensive articles to School.

8. Students are not permitted to bring any dangerous articles such as knives, razor-blades, guns, daggers, fire-crackers. etc. Nor are they allowed to bring Mobile-phones, radios or other electronic articles to School. If a child is found carrying one, it will be confiscated and returned only at the end of the session.

9. St. Xavier’s School expects from the pupils and the parents willingness to comply with the requirements and regulations of the school.

10. Every child is strictly advised to speak in English in the school premises.

11. Students, whenever they come to school, must wear the uniform prescribed for the season. Those who are not dressed in proper uniform may be excluded from the class or even sent home.

12. If for special reasons a student has not come in proper school uniform, a note of excuse duly signed by the parent must be entered in the Parent’s Remark Page.

13. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, neglect of homework, disobedience and disrespect towards the members of the staff or bad moral influence and unexpected behavior will lead to dismissal. The pupils are responsible to the school authorities for their control both in and outside the school.

14. Special arrangements for examinations cannot be made for pupils who, for any reason, are absent from any of the tests or examinations.

15. Absence/ leave in an examination will be treated as having received no marks in it.

16. Any student found resorting to unfair means in any examination will not be allowed to write the rest of the papers in that term and will not be allowed to continue studies in this school in the next session.

17. The rates of fees are subject to change from time to time, due to the increasing cost of maintenance and other expenses.

18. 85% attendance is necessary for promotion to the next class. 75% attendance is required to appear in the Board Examinations

19. Going out of the School campus at any time during class-hours, smoking or eating panmasala are strictly forbidden.

The School has no penal system for handling students who are found to be regularly unco-operative. Parents are simply asked to put them in another School which may be more suited to them. Freedom and its counterpart, responsibility, have to be carried slowly and freely accepted, in an atmosphere in which students exercise judgement and make free choices about matters appropriate to their age and level of understanding.

Students' mistakes are tolerated as part of the process of learning, but repeated misbehavior against the spirit of the School and hindering other students from peacefully learning, is not tolerated, even if this causes pain to the parents of the stubborn, uncooperative students.

The website of St. Xavier’s School bears the word Jesuit. It is related to the Founder of the Society of Jesus, St. Ignatius of Loyola and the members of this Catholic Religious Order, who are known as Jesuits. The main source of inspiration for the Jesuits is St. Ignatius of Loyola. St. Francis Xavier, one of his trusted founder companions, became equally prominent. Most of the educational institutions run by the Jesuits renowned world over bear the names Loyola and Xavier. They have become ‘brand’ names. Destiny led the Jesuits to become a force in the field of education from the very inception of the Religious Order, though it was not their initial vision. The curriculum of studies is followed strictly as per the guidelines laid by the C.G.B.S.E. Raipur and C.B.S.E. and Grading System is strictly being adhered to in all the classes. C.G.B.S.E. and C.B.S.E. emphasizes on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation and facilitate the same; the entire session is meticulously divided in to individual terms as per the needs of different classes.

Split of syllabus lessens the burden of the students and makes learning more effective and fun-filled. To reinforce the Continuous Evaluation System, Projects, Assignments and activities are aptly scheduled in all the terms so that the learning and its assessment remains a continuous process in our system. The course of studies will extend from PP I to Std X and is oriented towards the C.G.B.S.E. Raipur.

• The medium of instruction is English. A high standard of English is necessary for success in the C.G.B.S.E. However, Hindi has a vital role in the curriculum and are taught daily in all standards. The intellectual formation in St. Xavier’s School is liberal and universal yet rooted in Indian tradition as per suggestions made by the Indian Education Commissions.


• The Curriculum, therefore, embraces religious instruction (for Christians) and Value Education, English Literature, History, Geography, Civics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Environmental Studies (EVS). No language other than English is allowed within the campus.


• Regular attendance, alertness in class, performance of regular class work and revision are sufficient to make progress. Parents can make the class teaching even more valuable if they speak English to their wards at home. English is the medium of instruction.


• Private tuition for our school children is not encouraged.

EXAMINATION AND REPORT

1. There will be three Formative Assessments (FA 1, FA 2 & FA 3) and one Summative assessment (SA 1 & SA 2).
2. The report cards along with the answer sheets will be shown in parent-teacher meeting. Parents are expected to come without fail.
3. No examination will be held before or after the time fixed for the examinations.

After each Summative Assessment Parent – Teacher Meeting is arranged. During the meeting, following points must be kept in mind –

• Each meeting should take at the most 5 to 6 minutes.
• Please restrict the discussion to “concerns.”
• • Administrative matters are not to be discussed.

ASSESSMENTS / EVALUATIONS
Evaluation is the scheme of rewarding the hard work & knowledge level of students. St. Xavier’s School follows the system of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) of students’ progress. Regular assessments are conducted to measure and judge the impact and effectiveness of teaching at various levels. Each level of education has its own system of evaluation strictly based on the scheme provided by the C.G.B.S.E.

• A minimum of 80% Attendance is essential for promotion.
• No student is allowed to skip internal assessment that is conducted from time to time with or without prior notice.

Students who have missed any such evaluation will not be given a make-up evaluation.
Failure to answer an evaluation/project brings down the average and will affect his/her grade.

• For obtaining a “PASS,” a student must secure D Grade in each subject.
• The practice of bringing your child just for the period of the Evaluation and then seeking permission to take him/her home immediately on the condition that the child is not well will no longer be acceptable. If the child is not well, please keep him/her at home.

Display Boards & Assembly Conduction
Display Boards serve as a medium of expression and hence are an essential part of school activities. The school has four display boards for each of the students. Periodically a theme is provided to each class and with keen interest and competitive spirit students decorate these boards with theme-based information. Stress is laid on the sincerity of effort and the quality and relevance of information displayed.

Every week different classes are assigned the responsibility of conducting the Morning Assembly as part of the sequential system. It is the duty of each designated class to conduct the assembly, the pledge, thought for the day, categorized news, information on the day’s theme, in addition to the prayer and the National Anthem.

Physical Education
Physical education is an integral part of any system of education since a sound mind can be developed only in a sound body. Sports and games take their rightful place in the lives of students at St. Xavier’s School, where they seek high-level competition and recreation at the same time. The benefits of physical activity for the students are manifold. Sports give an opportunity to develop their physical skills and to remain healthy and active, while experiencing the pleasure of achievement.

The self-discipline and practice required to excel help them gain confidence in all that they do in their own selves and in their team. This also teaches them the qualities of self-control, self-esteem and leadership and develops the characteristics of a true team spirit and sports person.

Functions and celebrations add to the color of school education. They provide an opportunity to the students to exhibit talents and serve as a means of enjoyment and delight, which have a place deep down in their hearts all their life.

Annual Day and Sports Meet
The celebration of Annual Day is an important event in the school life of a student. It is used to recognize the non-scholastic as well as the academic excellence and to bring out the talents of the students. Annual function and Sports meet are held every alternate year in a grand and gala style. The event glitters with the charming performances of our students, who prepare for the day with full enthusiasm and gusto.

Each Annual Function resolves around an expressive theme and each act is depiction of the individual entities of the theme. Each entity of the theme resolves around a message and the theme itself serves as a statement. Each theme is selected with extreme caution & care and is normally based on the cultural and social values as preserved by its people inherit in this Nation of Glory called India.

The sports meet also holds a very special place in the heart of every student. It provides an opportunity for them to display their sporting skills in an assorted range of sports and games. The event kicks off very early in the school calendar with preliminary round of matches completed before the events. On the D-Day, only the Final Events are held and the victors are awarded with medallions and a certificate of achievement. The Overall Event Winner (House) is decided on the basis of tally of points scored in each of events organized.

The School Diary
The school diary serves as the communication channel for the teachers and parents to correspond with each other. All important notices are mentioned in the diary and any special remark regarding the child’s performance in the class is also recorded by the concerned teacher. Parents are requested to kindly examine the School Diary of their wards on daily basis and respond to any comments inscribed by the teacher. They may also mark the leave of absence record so that the child’s attendance in the school is always in check.

The notice board is another important medium of notifying any news about the school activities and schedules. Notice Boards are placed near the administrative office. St. Xavier’s School, Rajpur is located at the outskirt of the town in a large and panoramic vista of 6 acres. A sound palatial infrastructure is still under design to impart quality education with all amenities to all classes. CLASSROOMS

SCIENCE COMPOSIT LABORATORY

Therefore, to ensure safety, the School provides conveyance for the students to reach school on time and to take them home safely. SCHOOL REGULATIONS

1. Students are expected to arrive at the School before the assembly bell. Habitual late-corners will be sent home or detained after school.
2. A student, who is not habitually clean or properly dressed in the School uniform, will be sent home. Bush shirts are not to be worn.
3. No student up to Std. X is permitted to drive a motorized vehicle.
4. Students should not ride their cycles in the School campus. Cycles must he kept locked in the Cycle-shed.
5. Students must not scratch or spoil the desk, write in chalk or pencil on the wall or in any way damage School property. Damage done should be reported at once. Even if it is caused by accident, the damage has to be made good.
6. No "unauthorized" books, magazines, comics or papers may be brought to School without the permission of the Principal or the Vice-Principals.
7. The School is not responsible for loss of any goods belonging to the students. They are, therefore, advised not to bring large sums of money or expensive articles to School.
8. Students are not permitted to bring any dangerous articles such as knives, razor-blades, guns, daggers, fire-crackers. etc. Nor are they allowed to bring Mobile-phones, radios or other electronic articles to School. If a child is found carrying one, it will be confiscated and returned only at the end of the session.
9. St. Xavier’s School expects from the pupils and the parents willingness to comply with the requirements and regulations of the school.
10. Every child is strictly advised to speak in English in the school premises.
11. Students, whenever they come to school, must wear the uniform prescribed for the season. Those who are not dressed in proper uniform may be excluded from the class or even sent home.
12. If for special reasons a student has not come in proper school uniform, a note of excuse duly signed by the parent must be entered in the Parent’s Remark Page.
13. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, neglect of homework, disobedience and disrespect towards the members of the staff or bad moral influence and unexpected behavior will lead to dismissal. The pupils are responsible to the school authorities for their control both in and outside the school.
14. Special arrangements for examinations cannot be made for pupils who, for any reason, are absent from any of the tests or examinations.
15. Absence/ leave in an examination will be treated as having received no marks in it.
16. Any student found resorting to unfair means in any examination will not be allowed to write the rest of the papers in that term and will not be allowed to continue studies in this school in the next session.
17. The rates of fees are subject to change from time to time, due to the increasing cost of maintenance and other expenses.
18. 85% attendance is necessary for promotion to the next class. 75% attendance is required to appear in the Board Examinations
19. Going out of the School campus at any time during class-hours, smoking or eating panmasala are strictly forbidden.
20. All students are expected to:
    
    • show respect to all the teachers.
    • avoid shouting, whistling or running about in the School building.
    • avoid using indecent language.
    • avoid throwing paper, stones etc. anywhere in or around the School premises, except in the bins provided for the purpose.

Freedom and autonomy are the basis of discipline. The students are left free to accept the atmosphere of the School, to learn in a free and cooperative manner. The School has no penal system for handling students who are found to be regularly unco-operative. Parents are simply asked to put them in another School which may be more suited to them. Freedom and its counterpart, responsibility, have to be carried slowly and freely accepted, in an atmosphere in which students exercise judgment and make free choices about matters appropriate to their age and level of understanding.
Students' mistakes are tolerated as part of the process of learning, but repeated misbehavior against the spirit of the School and hindering other students from peacefully learning, is not tolerated, even if this causes pain to the parents of the stubborn, uncooperative students.

STUDENT’S CABINET

The School Cabinet is an important student’s body, who are given specific responsibilities to enhance their leadership skills in various fields of the school. They collaborate closely in the governance of the school management all through the academic year. They are the links between the Principal, teacher’s team and the students.

The School Cabinet investiture ceremony takes place every year on 31st July, the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Founder of the Society of Jesus.

CLUBS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-2020

1. ECO CLUB/ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB
   The main aim is to sensitize students towards Eco-Awareness, maintenance of greenery around the school by various Plantation drive programmes, making best out of waste etc. Eco Club is actively involved in promoting environment related issues such as judicial use of paper and Planting trees. Environmental Club is for any student interested in learning about the environment and participating in service activities related to environmental issues. Activities of the club include Educational Speeches Special Recycling Projects in the school, tree plantation, removing invasive species, litter clean- ups and other special projects with environmental themes.
   
   
2. CYBER CLUB
   The Club encourages students to develop their technical skills and acts as a platform for students to showcase their talents in computer applications. This club’s goal is to expand knowledge and interest in the field of computer science and programming.
   
   
3. SCIENCE CLUB
   It is a fact that we can learn and remember things better if we do it and practice rather than just read them. This basic principle is involved in the formation of organization called “Science Clubs” meant for ‘learning by doing ‘.
   
   Science club is helps in the development of scientific attitude, and develop genuine interest in science and scientific activities, supplements the work of the classroom and the laboratory and parts the Syllabus on a practical basis.
   
   The aims and objectives of science club is to provide proper incentive and inspiration for the pursuit of scientific knowledge in rigorous way by broadening their scientific outlook. To make the students understand the values of time and to help them in the proper utilization to their hours.
   
   Objectives:-
   • To develop the creativity and encourage the habit of exploration.
   • To widen the outlook of students, apply the knowledge in life situations.
   • To develop interest in scientific hobbies.
   • To keep the students in touch with the latest developments in science.

4. SPORTS CLUB
   Healthy Development of Children and Young People through Physical education and sports have an educational impact. Changes can be seen in (i) motor skill development and performance and (ii) educational potential. This shows the positive relationship between being involved in physical activities and psychosocial development. Through participation in sports and physical education, young people learn about the importance of key values such as honesty, team work, fair play, respect for themselves and others and adherence to rules.
   
   
5. SOCIAL WORK CLUB
   The Social Work Club provides a vehicle for student cohesiveness and professional identity with the social work profession. The Club is a student led organization designed to increase awareness of social issues within the school and the wider community. It provides opportunities to students to visit slums, orphanages, old age homes, hospitals etc.
   
   
6. LEGAL LITERACY CLUB
   Legal Literacy Club is formed to make students aware about the legal aspects of the society. This club provides a platform to understand and abide by the civil laws and help each other to create a healthy and responsible human society.
   
   
7. HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLUB

9. CULTURE & HERITAGE CLUB
   This club is initiated for the students with the purpose of creating awareness, preserving and promoting our varied and rich ancient culture and traditions; among the young learners. It conducts various activities and educational excursions for students that enable them to appreciate the traditions, culture and religious diversity for our country.
   
   In order to inculcate the idea of uniformity and togetherness in the young hearts, our school has introduced this club. The club activities not only help students to identify themselves, but also assist them to develop themselves in a desired field and also improve skills such as interpersonal communication, organizational leadership, presentation, etc. in order to bring out their best talents.
   
   
10. PEACE CLUB
    The initiative of setting up a peace club is mainly for the purpose of exploring the theme of peace. To help students understand cultural differences and similarities in order to increase respect and appreciation of diversity. To promote friendship and improve understanding between peers. To develop values of mutual respect and tolerance for others in building up equal and just society. To regard peace as a state of mind, a chosen value, a norm and a way of life.
    
    

ANNUAL DAY AND SPORTS MEET

The celebration of Annual Day is an important event in the school life of a student. It is used to recognize the non-scholastic as well as the academic excellence and to bring out the talents of the students. Annual function and Sports meet are held every alternate year in a grand and gala style. The event glitters with the charming performances of our students, who prepare for the day with full enthusiasm and gusto.

Each Annual Function resolves around an expressive theme and each act is depiction of the individual entities of the theme. Each entity of the theme resolves around a message and the theme itself serves as a statement. Each theme is selected with extreme caution & care and is normally based on the cultural and social values as preserved by its people inherit in this Nation of Glory called India.

The sports meet also holds a very special place in the heart of every student. It provides an opportunity for them to display their sporting skills in an assorted range of sports and games. The event kicks off very early in the school calendar with preliminary round of matches completed before the events. On the D-Day, only the Final Events are held and the victors are awarded with medallions and a certificate of achievement. The Overall Event Winner (House) is decided on the basis of tally of points scored in each of events organized.

ADMISSION CRONOLOGY


Classes PP I to Class IX

• Purchasing School Prospectus along with Admission Form.
• Submitting the Admission Form duly filled in the School Office on or before the Scheduled Date. (With One Recent Passport Size Photographs pasted in the respective places.)
• If the Child is selected, please note down the date for counseling (Parents with Child).
• Finishing Admission Formalities as given below –

Admission Formalities
For all classes, the selection list will be put up on the School Notice Board after the concerned Counseling is over, indicating the Class to which the student has been selected for admission. Once the Name comes up in the Selection List, Parents are requested to complete the Admission Process within 15 Days or on scheduled dates of the announcement of result. For taking Admission Parents must report with the documents as listed below in the School Office.

ADMISSION FORMALITIES

A student seeking admission is required to appear in person.

• The management reserves the right of admission.
• The ideal age for starting in PP I is 3.5 – 4.5 years.
• Admission is open to all students irrespective of caste, creed and religion on the basis of merit and availability of seats.
• False declaration of the student’s age is a disqualifying factor and subsequent discovery by the school authorities of such a declaration is sufficient ground for dismissal of the student.
• A child seeking admission in St. Xavier’s for standard II and above should furnish a transfer certificate of the previously attended school only after passing the placement test of a particular class. The school issuing such Transfer Certificate should have been recognized by the Government or District Educational Officer should countersign the transfer certificate.

Those seeking admission should submit the required testimonials as mentioned in the admission form.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION



Class PP I to Class I

• A Xerox copy of the Birth Certificate issued by an authorized body (Municipal Corporation/Nagar Panchayat/Gram Panchayat/Sarpanch/Registrar of Births & Deaths)
• One recent Passport Size Photograph
• Statutory Caste Certificate of the Parents for Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC Category.

Class II to Class IX

• A Xerox Copy of the Mark-Sheet of the Previous Exam passed
• School Leaving Certificate/Transfer Certificate duly authenticated by the Concerned Board Official.[District Education Officer for State Board Students, Section Officer (Exams) C.B.S.E. for C.B.S.E. Students].
• Statutory Caste Certificate of the Parents for Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC Category.
• After Scrutiny of the Mandatory Documents, Admission Form will be issued to the Parent. Parents must fill up the form carefully as per the instructions provided, affix one passport size photograph on the admission form and attach all the Documents in the designated Counter along with the Admission Fees and collect the receipt.

Note :

• The Admission Form must be filled up neatly in CAPITAL LETTERS.
• Parents are also requested not to Fold/Tear the form because if a form is found to be in an unacceptable state, they will have to purchase a new form.
• Please do not Cut or Overwrite details, especially Date of Birth in the Admission Form.
• Date/Month/Year of Birth cannot be corrected/changed from the school once it is registered.

ADMISSION FEES

Academic Fees are paid only through pay-in-slip booklet provided by the school.

The school fees cover TEN calendar months. They may be paid in either quarterly, half-yearly, annually or monthly. No reduction or concession is made for holidays or broken periods. Students are liable to pay full fees as long as their names are officially on the rolls.

ST. XAVIER’S SCHOOL RECEIVES NO GOVERNMENT OR PRIVATE AID FROM ANYWHERE. QUARTERLY, HALF-YEARLY, ANNUALY AND MONTHLY FEES ARE ITS ONLY INCOME TO MAINTAIN THE SCHOOL. HENCE, THESE AMOUNTS MAY BE INCREASED YEARLY TO KEEP UP WITH RISING COSTS AND SALARIES OF QUALIFIED STAFF.

FEES ONCE PAID WILL NOT BE REFUNDED FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.

USE OF SCHOOL BUS: Students are encouraged to use the school bus. Bus fees are scheduled according to the distance of stoppage in different routes. No reduction or concession is made for holidays or broken periods. To use bus and to discontinue the bus service, parents are requested to give Written Application to the Office before a month period.
